Headlands Environmental Services specializes in managing environmental resources for large-scale private sector and government operations across British Columbia and Greater Vancouver. It offers a wide range of services, including waste management, soil remediation, site reclamation and project management. It prides itself on being a full-service environmental company that will take you from recommendations to implementation and completion.
An expert in handling diverse environmental projects, it assists clients in efficiently managing the soil from excavation projects. Be it clean soil or industrial soil impacted with sodium, hydrocarbons, and metals, as well as clay, asphalt or concrete, Headlands handles it all.
With regards to the government agencies and the big private sector developers, the thing that we give them, which gives us a major advantage aside from our partnership with Shxwha:y Village, liability protection and good personnel, is we have what we call certainty. Certainty, for our clients that we have the capacity in terms of airspace, fill space, and the infrastructure we have. Our facilities are built to the engineering and environmental standards of the day as an end of life facility with an excellent operation plan, and good people. Certainty in terms of capacity and longevity and the fact that things are done right, is the thing that keeps us ahead, and I believe one of the major reasons that we tend to manage the bigger projects up here in British Columbia
Another key component to Headlands’ success is its adaptability. Each project has a different set of parameters and constraints, including permitting, access to facilities, production schedules etc. Because of these rigid constraints, flexibility is key. From expanding hours for a large pipeline project to be completed to helping meet production schedules for a massive transportation initiative being taken up in Metro Vancouver on a subway project, Headlands prides itself on being adaptable and helping solve any problem that may arise as each client/ project is different.
In addition to being an environmental steward, Headlands is strongly committed to serving the communities it operates in and the surrounding areas. Community engagement has always been a big part of Headlands’ corporate culture. With their First Nations partners, Shxwha:y Village, revenue from these projects has built elder housing, residential housing, a health and wellness center, a new cultural center, and a new longhouse, which is in process. Headlands has also recently finished building local basketball courts in conjunction with the Vancouver Bandits Professional Basketball Team. In addition, they sponsor many local sports teams, including the UFV men’s soccer team.
As a partner with Shxwha:y Village, approximately one-half of its workforce consists of people from First Nations communities. Its extensive training and benefits programs have aided the communities in gaining exceptional skill sets.
Being an end-of-life facility, Headlands manages the collected materials without transferring them to another location. This minimizes clients from potential environmental liabilities that come with disposing of the materials. Its team of specialists goes above and beyond to ensure a trouble-free experience, managing every aspect of the operation as well as handling all the analytical data review and paperwork.
Determined to continue serving clients and the environment, Headlands Environmental Services aims to achieve newer heights in the industry.
